A. Glad you asked!  Folio Biosciences offers a variety of services to meet researchers' tissue needs. With our custom procurement service, through our world wide procurement partners, we have access to millions of tissues. Our Single Tissue Catalog is a searchable, ever-growing inventory of commonly-studied tissues offered as paraffin sections. We also offer the highest-quality tissue microarrays in the business. Our cryo-sectioned Whole Mouse Slide Series allows researchers to evaluate protein and gene expression over the entire spectrum of mouse development from E 0.5 through adult. In addition, our CLIA and CAP certified laboratory can perform custom sectioning of human or animal tissue.

Q. How do I place my order?

A. It's super easy! You can use our online ordering method for the Single Tissue Catalog and Tissue Microarrays and order with your credit card on our SSL-authenticated website. You can also submit your institution's Purchase Order via fax at 614 436-6489. Q. I have a difficult tissue request, can Folio help?

A. We love a good challenge!  Folio specializes in handling custom or large procurement studies and no request is too big or too small. Our experienced procurement team will work with you to design your project and oversee tissue collection from start to finish. Folio's wide network of global clinical partners can accommodate requests such as: biofluids (serum, urine, blood draw, PBMC isolation), fresh tissue in custom media, matched pairs (frozen/FFPE, tumor/NAT), and multi-phase or longitudinal collections.

Q. Where is my order?

A. Shoot, did you not get the email we sent with the tracking number when your order was shipped?  Let us know & we'll resend it. In addition, you can track the progress of your shipped package at www.FedEx.com.

Q. Where can I view protocols for Folio products?

A. Because we like to be helpful, we've placed Folio specific and general histology protocols on our foliobio.com/protocols.

Q. What is the Folio Single Tissue catalog?

A. The Folio Single Tissue catalog is an ever-growing resource composed of normal and cancer formalin-fixed paraffin embedded (FFPE) tissues, available as sections, compiled online for convenient searching and viewing. With our secure purchasing system, you can view H/E images and purchase sections conveniently and economically. Most single tissue orders ship within 1-2 business days.

Q. Is it true you have up to 1 million FFPE blocks in-house? That's a lot of blocks?

A. Of course it's true! We at Folio pride ourselves on being honest with our clients as well as having a whole lot of tissue to further your research. Some of our blocks have up to 25 years of follow up data!

Q. Can I get tissue sections from the same cases represented on a Tissue Microarray (TMA)?

A. Unfortuantely, no. Due to the manufacturing precision of our TMAs, as well as the QC process, we are unable to offer tissue sections that are represented in the TMAs. Sorry about that. 

Q. Can I get fresh cut TMAs?

A. You betcha!  Folio is happy to supply fresh cut TMAs, but we require a minimum 5 slide purchase. 

Q. Why do you require a 5 slide minimum if a TMA is fresh cut?

A. It seems like a lot, but it's about saving resources. A 5 slide minimum helps eliminate as much waste as possible from facing off the block.

Q. How are the TMAs packaged and shipped in order that any degradation is minimized?

A. The TMAs are coated in paraffin after sectioning to protect cores, packaged upon order and shipped to your door at room temperature.

Q. Can a custom TMA be created to my specifications?

A. Of course! What kind do you want? TMAs can be customized to order. Do you want to provide the tissue or should we? Just talk to a Folio representative and let us know. 

Q. How is the product shipped?

A. Depends on which product you ordered.  If you ordered a product that is frozen, all shipments are insured and shipped on dry ice and should be kept frozen until use (-80º).   If you ordered a FFPE section or aTMA, the slides are packaged in slide cases and shipped at room temperature. However, they have an expanded shelf life if stored at 4°C.
